The documentary “Cue” by Daniel Melo features interviews with various DJs and electronic music producers from the Dominican Republic, highlighting their evolution within the local scene. Through personal stories, the interviewees share how they were introduced to electronic music, their influences, and the challenges they faced—from lack of resources to insufficient institutional support.

The testimonies reveal the transformative impact of electronic music and culture on their lives, from early childhood experiences with music to pivotal moments at prominent clubs like La Huácara. The local scene’s evolution is also explored, shaped by periods of growth and decline, influenced by factors such as the pandemic and restricted hours.

Despite these challenges, hope remains alive, with a new generation of young producers and DJs innovating and creating music despite limitations. Participants emphasize the importance of perseverance, self-learning, and passion for music while acknowledging the need for more support to foster the growth and international recognition of local producers.
